KAYSVILLE — Utah’s holiday snow this week is motivating drivers to check their tires. Many of them are taking their cars in the day after Christmas to make sure they have the right rubber for the road.
Just enough snow to make the roads slick and some Utah drivers nervous.
“The weather is a big factor,” Kaysville resident Crystal Bailiff said.
“Especially with this snow, I’m not going to risk blowing a tire,” Kaysville resident Alexxis Smith said.
These are just some of the drivers who took in their cars on Wednesday to Utah tire centers like Les Schwab.
“Any time the snow comes, we get an uptick in business,” Les Schwab Store Manager Steve Boekholder said.
Les Schwab staff said they got slammed with work this morning from people buying new tires for the snow, or coming in to get their tires fixed to avoid slipping and sliding.
“Every time I drive, the first time it snows, there’s so many accidents, and I don’t want to be a part of that,” Smith said.
“On the hill, our street is a hill, it’s not always plowed great, it really (makes me) nervous with a spare or just driving with this weather in general,” Bailiff said.
Whether you bring your car in or not, tire experts recommend it’s important to make sure your tires can handle the snow.
“On days like today it’s important you take a look at the tread depth on your tires, make sure the air pressure is correct in those tires,” Boekholder said.
And give yourself one less thing to worry about when the snow comes back.
If you need to get your tires checked out, Les Schwab said they’ll do that for free. They’ll also help you get your tires approved if you need your sticker to drive up the canyons.
