LAYTON — A vehicle rolled over in Layton, ejecting three people and blocking off highway traffic, according to Utah Highway Patrol.
According to UHP Eddie Wright, the incident happened on Interstate 15 northbound at Gentile St.
The Department of Public Safety said a white Dodge Ram was traveling northbound on I-15 when the driver “drifted into the median striking the center barrier, causing it to roll.”
Of the five people in the Dodge, only two people were wearing seatbelts, Wright said. The three without seatbelts were reportedly ejected from the car, and one person was taken to a hospital by a medical helicopter with a “significant head injury,” DPS said. Wright said the two others were taken to hospitals by ambulance.
The driver of the car and the passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and had “minor to no injuries,” officials said.
DPS said that drowsy driving is being investigated as the cause of the crash.
