Woman killed after driver runs red light

UPDATE: On Monday, officials with West Valley City identified the woman killed as Yenny Rodriguez-Barrito, and said she was related to the person driving the car she was in.
WEST VALLEY CITY – A woman was killed after police said a driver ran a red light Saturday.
On Saturday, a 33-year-old woman was driving west with a 54-year-old woman passenger on 4100 South, when a witness said she drove through a red light at the intersection of Mountain View Corridor, according to Roxeanne Vainuku with the West Valley City Police Department.
At the same time, Vainuku said another vehicle was driving south on Mountain View Corridor when they had a green light and continued through the intersection.
The two cars collided, and the passenger of the vehicle that ran the red light, a 54-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said. The 33-year-old driver had moderate injuries due to the crash, Vainuku said.
The driver of the other vehicle reportedly went to a hospital for a check-up following the crash and was in good condition.
According to WVCPD, this crash is still under investigation at the time of publication.
No identities were released at the time of publication.
