Woman killed, shooting being investigated as homicide

SALT LAKE CITY — A 29-year-old woman was shot and killed early Sunday morning and police said they are investigating her death as a homicide.
The victim was identified Monday as Nichole Olsen.
At approximately 2 a.m. on Sunday, Salt Lake City police responded to a shooting near 300 South West Temple.

The shooting happened in a parking lot near a nightclub, where police say employees of the nightclub had asked several people to leave.
In the parking lot, the suspect got into an argument with Olsen’s boyfriend. The suspect shot the victim when the argument escalated.
As officers were responding, it was reported that someone drove Olsen to the University of Utah Hospital where she later died.
The suspect and others left after the shooting in an unknown vehicle.
Detectives are asking that anyone with information about this shooting to call 801-799-3000 and reference case number 22-229528.
