Two dead in wrong-way crash on I-15

Double Fatal Crash at 900 South I-15 Northbound (UHP)

SALT LAKE CITY — Authorities responded to a fatal two-car crash after one car was reportedly driving southbound on northbound Interstate 15 lanes.
Utah Highway Patrol said in a press release that the crash occurred shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday near 900 South on northbound I-15.
A white Ford Focus was reported to police dispatch to have entered northbound I-15 from the 600 South offramp and was traveling against traffic, according to the release.
Shortly after those reports, UHP said they received reports of a head-on collision between the Focus and a blue FJ Cruiser.
Troopers are investigating a double fatal crash at 600 S I-15 northbound. Please use alternate route if possible. More details will be released as they become available.

The driver of the Cruiser was unrestrained and deceased when crews arrived on the scene, UHP said. The driver of the Focus was wearing his seat belt, but he also died on scene, according to the release. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
UHP said impairment is being investigated as a possible contributing factor.
On Tuesday, authorities identified the driver of the FJ Cruiser as 59-year-old Martin Salazar, of Taylorsville. The driver of the Ford Focus was identified as 29-year-old Conner Van Skyhawk, of Salt Lake City.
