EPHRAIM, Utah — Officials with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have revealed the location of the Ephraim Utah Temple.

The temple, which will serve more than 31,000 Latter-day Saints in the area, will be built on a 9.16-acre site located at the intersection of 200 North and 400 East in Ephraim.

Current plans call for a three-story temple of approximately 39,000 square feet.

Plans to build a temple in Ephraim were announced by Church President Russell M. Nelson at a special Manti Area Special Broadcast in May.

Elder Kevin R. Duncan said the building would be comparable to the size of the Brigham City Utah Temple and would include four endowment rooms with 30 seats each, three sealing rooms and one baptismal font.

Church Announces New Temple In Ephraim, Changes To Manti Renovation

Detailed design plans for the temple are still being developed, according to Church officials. “Further information — including interior and exterior renderings — will be made public later. Groundbreaking dates have not been set. Project leaders will soon start working with city officials in these locations on preliminary plans for the temples, and leaders will begin filing public documents in the coming months.”

The nearby Manti Utah Temple, which was completed in May 1888, closed for renovations on Oct. 1.

While both structures are undergoing construction, officials said Church members within the temple district are free to attend a temple of their choosing.

Manti Temple volunteers were given the option to assist at the Payson or Cedar City temples, depending on the needs of each and their availability to travel.

Church officials anticipate holding open houses and dedications for both temples once they are finished.

In addition to the Ephraim Temple, Utah has 14 temples in operation, seven under construction, three under renovation and three announced.
