Video: Afternoon weather for Jan. 3, 2025
Jan 3, 2025, 6:56 PM | Updated: 7:38 pm
After record warmth today with a high of 58 at the SLC Airport, a cold front will move in tomorrow morning and cool us back down. As that cold front moves in, it will drop the bottom out with rain quickly switching to snow between 3-5am, then snow showers will continue at times through about 10am. Mountain snow will be ongoing from the early overnight hours through the evening tomorrow. Accumulating valley snow does look likely and could end up being Salt Lake City’s first 1″ snow storm of the year. Northern and central valleys could see 1-3″, benches and the Wasatch Back 3″-6″, northern mountains 6-12″ with 10-20″ in the Cottonwoods, and 5-10″ for the central mountains! Rainfall for the valleys could be between .25″-.50″, higher end only if the transition to snow happens later and doesn’t last as long! Temperatures in the afternoon will be in the upper 30s, then highs on Sunday in the low 40s with mostly cloudy skies. Mountain snow showers will be possible again Sunday night through Tuesday morning! – Devan Masciulli, KSL Weather 1.3.25
