Jan 31, 2024, 10:56 PM | Updated: 11:38 pm
We ended January with a bang! Highs in the low 60s across the Salt Lake Valley with plenty of sunshine. Things are changing as we head into the end of the work week. Highs will still be mild tomorrow, but expect more clouds and showers in the southern half of the state. Precipitation will lift north as the day goes on with scattered showers reaching the Wasatch Front around dinnertime. Valley rain and mountain snow will continue through the day Friday before tapering off early Saturday. This system will deliver a lot of moisture across the state. Wasatch Front could see rainfall amounts between .20-.60″ while further south, like St. George, could see up to an inch or more! Potential snowfall amounts: Northern Mountains 6 to 12″ (Alta, Uintas), Wasatch Back 3 to 6″, South/Central Valleys 4-8″ (like Bryce and Sevier), and Southern Mountains 10-20″ with locally higher possible at Brian Head and the Pine Valley Mountains. We’ll trend cooler and closer to normal over the weekend with highs in the low 40s. Sunday looks quiet (other then some light snow showers possible in the northern mountains). – Devan Masciulli, KSL Weather 1.31.24
