Video: Evening weather forecast for May 8, 2024
May 8, 2024, 11:12 PM | Updated: 11:38 pm
The storm system that impacted northern Utah over the weekend and the beginning of the week is shockingly moving west back over the Desert Southwest. As the system moves overhead Thursday, the chance for pop-up showers and storms comes with it throughout the afternoon for northern and central Utah, mainly in the higher terrain. This same pop-up shower chance exists Friday afternoon, then again Saturday for central and southeastern Utah. Overall, expect plenty of dry time to close out the week with some passing clouds. Because of the orientation of this low pressure system, winds will be coming into northern Utah from the east-northeast, resulting in strong downslope winds for the northern Wasatch Front. Winds will generally be gusting up to 40-50 mph from Thursday morning to Friday morning. The strongest winds will be late Thursday night into early Friday morning where gusts can be up to 65 mph, so be sure to tie down loose outdoor objects! Temperatures continue to warm, low 60s Thursday, mid 60s Friday, then 70s for Mother’s Day weekend. – Devan Masciulli, KSL Weather 5.8.24
