Video: Morning weather forecast, Dec. 31, 2024
Dec 31, 2024, 7:14 AM | Updated: 7:38 am
Our statewide average snowpack went from 69% to 95% in just 7 days (DEC 23 to DEC 30). Quiet weather is on tap today but cold temperatures accompany that sunshine. A small system will graze northern Utah tomorrow night into Thursday morning bringing rain/snow showers. A changeover to full snow is possible but accumulations for the Wasatch Front will be less than an inch. Northern parts of Utah like Cache Valley may see up to 2″. Northern mountains north of I-80 will see 2-6″ of snow, and then mountains south of I-80 like the Cottonwoods 1-3″. We’ll dry out Thursday and Friday as temperatures climb into the mid to upper 40s. Our next storm, second of 2025, looks to move in Saturday with rain and snow in the valleys. As of now, this storm looks more potent than the New Year’s Day storm! – Matt Johnson, KSL Weather 12.31.24
