Video: Morning weather forecast for Jan. 7, 2024
Jan 7, 2025, 6:47 AM | Updated: 8:38 am
A low pressure core is cutting off from the main flow of the jet stream and will deepen off the Southern California coast today. This is a recipe for wind along the Wasatch Front (Salt Lake to Brigham City), St. George area and the L.A. Basin. East winds will ramp up this afternoon and persist into the nighttime hours. Nothing looking damaging with this event in Utah, but look for the strongest gusts to be from Layton to Bountiful where gusts could reach 55-60 mph. St. George is looking at winds 25-35 mph with some gusts around 55 mph. Southern California is in for a high-end wind event with 50-80 mph winds and gusts up to 100 mph today. Dry weather locks in until our next storm system arrives Saturday, right now keeping it mostly cloudy with a chance for snow showers . – Matt Johnson, KSL Weather 1.7.25
