SALT LAKE CITY — The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has announced that it is shutting down because of federal funding cuts.
The nonprofit is responsible for the distribution of funds to NPR and PBS. The corporation says this decision was a direct result of the Congress-approved rescission package that took back 1 billion dollars for public broadcasting.
NPR reports that most employees have already been informed they their positions will be eliminated by the end of September this year.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
