SB I-15 reopens in Draper as morning snow pummels Wasatch Front

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s roadways saw heavy delays Friday morning as another wave of snow slammed into the Wasatch Front.
Temperatures have remained low, meaning snow is sticking and quickly piling up on surface streets and freeways.
According to the Utah Department of Transportation, southbound Interstate 15 has reopened near 14300 South in Draper, but there were several active crashes in the area that caused major delays throughout the morning.
All vehicles heading up Parleys Canyon were required to have chains or 4×4 on eastbound I-80, and the traction law was in effect for the Cottonwood Canyons.
At 9 a.m., authorities asked drivers to consider delaying any travel for two to three hours.

Average drive times from Provo to Salt Lake City reached 129 minutes Friday morning, compared to a typical 35 minutes.
