Hate Crimes Bill Moving To Utah House

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – A House committee is expected to take up a hate crimes bill on Capitol Hill Friday.
SB 103 already passed the Senate earlier in the week.
If the bill becomes law, it would add a harsher penalty for criminal offenses committed against a victim who is targeted because of specific personal attributes.
Hate crimes legislation has been proposed many times in Utah over the years, but this is the first time it’s gained traction in the legislature.
