LAS VEGAS, Nevada – The family of a 13-year-old girl who was killed in a rollover crash early Saturday morning said she was an only child who lived with her father, Jeffrey Smith, in Las Vegas.
She would visit her mother, Candice Marie Young, who was also killed in the crash, when schedules allowed, her aunt, Heather Smith said.
Candice Marie Young and Angelina Smith were headed back to Utah with Celeste Drennan when the rollover happened on I-15, about nine miles north of the I-70 Interchange, near Meadow, Utah.
Angelina Smith’s aunt said the teen was an outgoing child who enjoyed spending time with friends and playing the saxophone.
She also said Angelina Smith’s father recently beat an aggressive cancer diagnosis, which killed Angelina Smith’s grandfather two years ago.
“An angel got her wings, but a father’s dreams were shattered,” Heather Smith said.
They are working on bringing her body home.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family with funeral costs.
