‘Above-Normal Snowfall’: Farmer’s Almanac Releases Winter Forecast

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The northern half of the United States is going to have a chillier-than-normal winter, according to the latest forecast from the Farmer’s Almanac.

And as for the desert Southwest? It looks like it’s going to be a dry one.

According to the extended winter forecast, northern Utah along with other states in the Rocky Mountains could expect above-normal snowfall. However, desert areas like southern Utah are predicted to have mild – and dry – winter months.

“Not good news considering signs that drought conditions were beginning to ramp up in these regions at the close of the winter of 2020,” according to the almanac.

Other areas of the country will see some wild winter weather as well. The almanac is predicting 1 – 2 feet of snow during a blizzard in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast states in the second week of February. The Southern Plains are also “on target to receive copious amounts of snow, sleet, and rain later on that same month.”
