FARMINGTON, Utah – Kevon Olsen loved his dog, Rosco, and took the canine everywhere he went. That was no exception Tuesday night when the pair rode Olsen’s ATV in Farmington Canyon.
“He loved that dog,” Kassandra Olsen, Kevon’s daughter, said. “Rosco was with us as we went out riding.”
Olsen’s ATV got stuck in a snow patch at around 8:30 Tuesday night, and when he tried to get it out, he along with the vehicle rolled hundreds of feet down a cliff.
“In the process of trying to get out of the snow, he rolled down the hill and was ejected,” Kassandra Olsen said.
The 61-year-old died on scene. His dog, Rosco, who was by his side, is now missing.
“He kept running back and forth between dad and us and then he just disappeared,” Olsen said.
The 7-year-old dog means everything to the family, who is desperate to get him back as they grieve their father’s death.
“He was my mom’s baby and my dad’s best friend,” Olsen said.
The dog had just had surgery and has stitches on his right side. Rosco is also microchipped and sports a blue collar with the family’s information on it. They hope someone will find him and return him to the family.
“To get him back would mean the world not only to me, but our family,” Olsen said.
