DRAPER, Utah – Coronavirus restrictions, which have closed the lobbies of offices across the state, have cause some turmoil – especially at the DMV.
Only a handful of the DMV locations in Utah offer drive-thru options. At South Valley DMV in Draper, cars began lining up as early as 1:30 a.m. in order to be near the front of the line when the window opened at 6 a.m.
There have been reports of wait times up to eight hours in recent days.

The drive thru window is usually only open from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. weekdays. Due to the constant stream of vehicles during the pandemic, though, the location is now open from 6 a.m. – 8 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturdays.
The Utah DMV website warns residents to “expect long wait times.”
It also notes that registration renewals”must be processed online or by mail.”
“Renewals are not allowed at the drive through unless you have a vehicle that cannot be processed online or by mail,” according to the site.
