Utah Reports 495 New COVID-19 Cases, 3 New Deaths

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Department of Health on Thursday announced 495 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and three new deaths.
The three patients who died were from across the state. One was a Salt Lake County woman between the ages of 65 – 84 who was a resident of a long-term care facility. One was a San Juan County man between the ages of 45 – 64, and it’s unknown if he was hospitalized at the time of death. One was a Washington County man between the ages of 65 – 84 who was a resident of a long-term care facility.
There have been 15,839 total cases and 152 deaths so far in the state, according to UDOH.
The state has issued 282,685 total tests, and the rate of positives is now at 5.6%. That number has increased from 5.3% at the beginning of the week.
Of those positive cases, 1,120 required hospitalization. Currently, there are 150 patients being treated for COVID-19 in Utah hospitals – an increase of 18 hospitalizations from Wednesday.
An estimated 8,786 patients are considered recovered, which means they had a diagnosis date of more than three weeks ago and they have not died.
