HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah – Hill Air Force Base announced it will expand services as the percentage of new positive COVID-19 cases drops statewide and counties near the base.
State epidemiologist Dr. Angela Dunn said Wednesday even though cases are high, trends in Utah over the past week were positive.
Thursday’s seven-day rolling average of positive cases was 9.4 percent compared to last week’s 10.4 percent.
Because of that trend, Hill Air Force Base moved from Health Protection Condition Charlie to HPCON Bravo Thursday, according to a news release.
The base will continue disinfecting work areas, working remotely and practicing social distancing, the release said.
The release also listed expanded activities and services:
- Chapel services will resume in-person services Aug. 8, with no congregation-wide singing during services except for a single-person lead.
- Hill AFB Museum will open Aug. 5 with modified hours — Wednesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. There will be a maximum of 50 visitors in each gallery.
- AAFES barber shop will expand services starting Thursday, with active duty having priority (walk-in basis) and retirees and DoD civilians by appointment only. Active duty can make appointments as well, but not required.
