Utah Passes 200K COVID-19 Cases; 17 More Residents Have Died From The Virus

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Officials with the Utah Department of Health reported 4,004 Utahns have tested positive for COVID-19, and an additional 17 residents have died as a result of the virus.
According to health officials, 571 people with COVID-19 are being treated in Utah hospitals.
Testing
UDOH reported 1,441,659 Utahns have been tested for the virus so far. That’s an increase of 9,434 tests since Tuesday.
Of those, a total of 202,220 have tested positive for COVID-19.
The rolling seven-day average for positive tests rose to 2,611 per day, while the rolling seven-day average for percent of positive tests rose to 22.6%. Over 42% of all tests reported Wednesday were positive.
Hospitalizations
Currently, 571 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, and 202 of those are in intensive care units. Another 13 people are currently hospitalized with suspected cases of COVID-19.
The state’s ICU occupancy, which had been above the 85% threshold for quality care, was at 82.4% Wednesday. The ICU beds in Utah’s 16 hospitals best equipped to care for COVID-19 patients were 85.9% full.
UDOH also reported Utah’s non-ICU beds are 54.8% full.
Deaths
Authorities reported an additional 17 people have died as a result of COVID-19, which brings Utah’s death toll to 906.
“One previously announced death has been removed from the total count after further investigation,” officials said.

- between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized
- older than 85, Uintah County resident, long-term care facility resident
- between 65-84, Davis County resident, hospitalized
- older than 85, Washington County resident, hospitalized
- between 45-64, Weber County resident, hospitalized
- older than 85, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident
- between 65-84, Weber County resident, hospitalized
- between 65-84, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Four females:
- between 45-64, Box Elder County resident, hospitalized
- between 25-44, Weber County resident, hospitalized
