FARMINGTON, Utah – Educators and staff in the Davis School District began receiving the COVID-19 vaccine at a drive-thru clinic in Farmington on Tuesday.
The clinic, which happened at the Legacy Events Center, is the first of three for those who are high risk or 60 and older.
The event allowed for district employees to drive through one of 14 lanes and have the vaccine administered without having to step outside their vehicles.
Substitute teacher Gerry Erickson was among the fist educators in the state to receive the vaccine. He said he felt a sense of relief.
“I didn’t feel anything, anything negative all,” he said.
Officials with the Davis County Health Department said they’re expecting to administered between 1,900 – 2,000 shots at each of the first three clinics between Tuesday – Saturday.
“We’re nothing more than a recipient, which we are grateful for,” said Chris Williams with the Davis School District. “This is a health department effort, and they’re running the show.”
“But we do have 12 of our school nurses involved with giving vaccinations,” he added.
The clinic is happening until 5 p.m. Organizers said they expect the bulk of the teachers will participate on Friday and Saturday.
