SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah has vaccinated more than 20,000 more residents, according to the latest report from the Utah Department of Health.
Unfortunately, 17 more Utahns have lost their lives to the virus.
Health officials also reported 1,216 more people have tested positive for COVID-19, which brought the 7-day average of new positive tests down slightly.
Testing
UDOH reports 2,061,926 Utahns have been tested so far, which is 7,696 more people tested than yesterday.
Of those, a total of 352,489 have tested positive for COVID-19. That’s an increase of 1,216 cases from Thursday’s report.
The rolling 7-day average for positive tests is 1,222 per day, and the rolling 7-day average for percent of positive laboratory tests is 16.3%.
Hospitalizations
There are currently 349 people hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 117 of those people are in intensive care units. Another 84 patients are hospitalized with suspected cases of COVID-19.
ICU utilization was up slightly over Thursday’s numbers.
Statewide, 77.1% of the intensive care unit beds are in use, and the ICU beds in Utah’s referral centers are 79.8% full.
Referral Centers are the 16 hospitals in Utah with the capability to provide the best care for patients with COVID-19. Because most patients are transferred to these facilities, their utilization is the best reflection of the true hospital capacity in Utah when looking at ICU beds.
