4 More Utahns Have Died From COVID-19, Another 710 Test Positive

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Department of Health on Sunday reported four more residents have died from COVID-19 and an additional 710 have tested positive.
The state has administered more than 11,000 vaccines since yesterday’s numbers.
There are currently 278 people hospitalized with the virus.

Testing
UDOH reports a total of 2,122,197 Utahns have been tested so far. That’s an increase of 4,635 people tested since yesterday’s numbers.
Of those, a total of 361,294 have tested positive for COVID-19. That’s an increase of 710 new cases since Saturday’s report.
The rolling 7-day average for positive tests is down to 958 per day.
The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “people over people is 14.1%, and the rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 6.4%.
Hospitalizations
Currently, 278 people are hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 111 of those people are intensive care units. Another 29 people are currently hospitalized with suspected cases of COVID-19.
Utah’s ICUs are 77.1% full, and the ICU beds in the state’s referral centers are 80.9% full.
Referral Centers are the 16 hospitals in Utah with the capability to provide the best care for patients with COVID-19. Because most patients are transferred to these facilities, their utilization is the best reflection of the true hospital capacity in Utah when looking at ICU beds.
Deaths
The virus has killed four more Utahns, and a total of 1,794 residents have died because of COVID-19.
The following individuals’ deaths were reported Sunday:
- Female, between 45-64, Washington County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 45-64, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 45-64, Sevier County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Davis County resident, hospitalized at time of death
Vaccinations
Utah has now administered 524,000 doses of the vaccine.
A total of 363,786 people have received the first dose, and 160,214 residents have been fully immunized with both doses.
More than 600,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been delivered to Utah.
