SALT LAKE CITY — University of Utah Health is opening a COVID-19 long hauler clinic to provide coordinated care to patients with prolonged symptoms of the disease.
The clinic will have doctors and practitioners from 10 different specialties available to help those experiencing lingering health effects from COVID-19, U of U Health confirmed with KSL TV.
“There’s just so many people that need this and that are really, really struggling still,” said Lisa O’Brien, who started a Facebook group for long haulers in Utah.
O’Brien said she and other long haulers find it difficult to get a diagnosis and treatment.
“That’s one of the biggest reasons I started the group last June is because I was having such a hard time getting people to take me seriously,” she said.
The Utah COVID-19 Long Haulers Facebook group now has more than 3,100 members. O’Brien said they are grateful to the doctors who are taking them seriously and starting the U of U Health long-hauler clinic.
“We’re super excited and we’ve been counting down the days,” she said.
