Man in custody for carjacking, hitting two with blunt object

WEST JORDAN, Utah— A man is in custody after carjacking a vehicle, breaking a car window, and hitting two people with a blunt object according to police.
The man was identified as 26-year-old Samuel Richard Schick.
The carjacking happened when a car with two people in it pulled up at a local store and Schick pulled up next to them. Schick got out of his car and smashed the back window of the other car using a “blunt object” court documents state. Next, Schick jumped in the passenger seat and hit both the passenger and driver with the object.
Both victims were able to to get away from Schick and he took over the driver’s seat and drove the car away. A second suspect drove Schick’s car away.
Police were able to locate the two suspects along with the victims’ and suspect’s vehicles nearby using security footage and descriptions from the victims.
When an officer spoke with the second suspect, the suspect admitted they had committed the crimes.
Schick will faces charges of aggravated robbery, criminal mischief, and two counts of aggravated assault.
