Sean Smith Discovers Frightening Facts Of Frightmares At Lagoon

FARMINGTON, Utah – In KSL TV’s continuing quest to discover the myriad ways in which Utahns can enjoy Halloween, adventure specialist Sean Smith took a trip to Lagoon to discover what’s new at Frightmares.

He caught up with Lagoon’s director of special events, Julie Freed, to find out what’s new this year at the park.

“There is so much going on,” she said.

Frightmares includes three haunted attractions for kids and “numerous” adult haunted houses.

There’s also a special Halloween experience called “Seance.”

“I heard something about ‘Seance’ through the grapevine,” Sean said. “I heard it’s pretty scary.”

“It is!” Julie said. “Can you keep a secret?”

Sean replied, “Uh, yeah!”

“So can I,” Julie answered.

Sean then joined Julie in front of one of the many haunted attractions inside Lagoon: the Fun House of Fear, which has been a part of Frightmares for almost 20 years.

While Sean was digging into Julie’s own past as a performer in a Frightmares haunted attraction, the park’s current performers found plenty of opportunities to draw attention in the background.

“We have people having fun here behind us,” Sean said. “And that’s really cool.”

Julie and Sean then made their way across the park to “Seance.”

It’s a fully-immersive haunted experience that blends live performance, physical effects and audience participation.

“In this multi-sensory experience, guests are thrust into the action as a simple ghost story comes to life,” according to Lagoon’s website.

“The show changes every single time because there’s audience involvement,” Julie said. “… It is very exciting.”
