SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Rep. Ben McAdams, D-Utah, has proposed a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
McAdams announced on Twitter his proposal would prohibit the federal government from spending more than it receives in a fiscal year.
He’s the first Democrat to introduce such an amendment in the House, although several conservatives have already tried unsuccessfully over the years.
Today I introduced a bill to prohibit the federal government from spending more than it receives in a fiscal year. It’s time to balance the budget and live within our means. #utpol pic.twitter.com/LqbH2HU4wi
