Suspect In Morning Shooting Found Dead Of Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound, Police Say

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Two people died and another was injured after a shooting in West Valley City on Friday, police said.

The incident happened shortly after 6 a.m. in the area of 3600 South and 6100 West.

Roxeanne Vainuku, public information officer for the West Valley City Police Department, said a resident called police to report her ex-husband had shot her and her boyfriend. The suspect fled the scene before authorities arrived.

“When our officers arrived here, they did find an adult male on the front lawn of the property,” Vainuku said. “He is deceased.”

Police identified the victim as 40-year-old Nathan Brower and the suspect as 40-year-old Jeremy Harris later Friday.

Vainuku said the female resident sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital in serious condition but she is expected to survive her injuries.

Two children, ages 5 and 10, were also in the home at the time of the shooting but were unharmed. Vainuku said they appear to be the children of the female victim and Harris. The children were released to the care of family members.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., a West Valley City resident discovered a “visibly armed man” lying in his shower, according to Vainuku. The resident left the home and contacted police. Officers set up containment and discovered Harris’ body and said he had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police said there are no known connections between the suspect and the resident who discovered Harris’ body.
