SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – When school districts shut down in March, there was a mad scramble to move learning online.
This fall will be different, though, as teachers have been working through the summer to implements a cohesive curriculum for students.
Many districts – like the Salt Lake City School District – will be using Canvas as a learning platform.
Trenton Goble, vice president of K-12 strategy for Canvas, said the company has been working closely with schools to make sure students get an education that is as close to in-person learning as possible.
“We’ve seen teachers working all summer in collaboration, supporting each other, figuring out ways to better support kids in a remote learning situation or a blended learning situation,” Goble said.
The key is making sure teachers can talk to students – not just instruct them. Canvas also allows students to talk to each other.
“So you have real-time interaction with your students,” Goble said. “And you can provide feedback for students in meaningful ways so it doesn’t feel so distant.
He said schools that are using Canvas will be everything in one place. Students will have one login to access all their remote learning tools.
