19 Utahns Have Died From COVID-19, Another 2.5K Test Positive

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Officials with the Utah Department of Health reported 2,510 Utahns have tested positive for COVID-19, and an additional 19 residents have died as a result of the virus.
According to health officials, 575 people with COVID-19 are being treated in Utah hospitals.
Testing
UDOH reported 1,432,225 Utahns have been tested for the virus so far. That’s an increase of 9,146 tests since Monday.
Of those, a total of 198,216 have tested positive for COVID-19.
The rolling seven-day average for positive tests was 2,292 per day, while the rolling seven-day average for percent of positive tests rose to 22.1%.
Health officials said fewer tests were performed during Thanksgiving weekend as many testing sites closed and/or operated at reduced hours.
Hospitalizations
Currently, 575 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, and 205 of those are in intensive care units. Another 12 people are currently hospitalized with suspected cases of COVID-19.
The state’s ICU occupancy, which had been above the 85% threshold for quality care, was at 79.1% Tuesday. The ICU beds in Utah’s 16 hospitals best equipped to care for COVID-19 patients were 85.7% full.
UDOH also reported Utah’s non-ICU beds are 48% full.
Deaths
Authorities reported an additional 19 people have died as a result of COVID-19, which brings Utah’s death toll to 890.

- older than 85, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident
- between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized
- older than 85, Cache County resident, not hospitalized
- between 45-64, Box Elder County resident, hospitalized
- older than 85, Utah County resident, hospitalized
- between 25-44, Utah County resident, hospitalized
- older than 85, Washington County resident, hospitalized
- between 65-84, Washington County resident, not hospitalized
- Seven females:
- between 45-64, Weber County resident, not hospitalized
- older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, not hospitalized
- between 65-84, Utah County resident, hospitalized
- older than 85, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident
