Health Officials Report 19 More Utahns Have Died From COVID-19

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Health officials Wednesday reported 19 more Utahns have died from COVID-19, which brings the state’s pandemic death toll to 1,096.
An additional 2,928 of the state’s residents have tested positive for the virus.
There are currently 556 people hospitalized with confirmed cases of the virus.
Testing
The Utah Department of Health reported a total of 1,600,363 residents have been tested so far. That’s an increase of 10,508 cases from Tuesday’s report.
Of those, a total of 240,715 have tested positive for COVID-19, which is an increase of 2,928 cases from yesterday’s numbers.
The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 2,600 per day, and the rolling seven-day average for percent of positive laboratory tests is 23.02%.
Hospitalizations
Currently, 556 people are hospitalized with COVID, and 210 of those individuals are in intensive care units. Another 10 patients are currently hospitalized with suspected cases of COVID-19.
Utah’s ICUs are 94.6% full, which is well above the state’s threshold for quality ICU care (85%). The ICU beds in the 16 referral centers best equipped to care for COVID-19 patients are 97.6% full.
Deaths
COVID-19 has killed an additional 19 Utahns, which brings the state’s pandemic death toll to 1,096.
On Wednesday, the following individuals’ deaths were reported:
- Male, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 45-64, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 25-44, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Davis County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, older than 85, Wasatch County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 45-64, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, older than 85, Weber County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
