State Reports 12 More Utahns Have Died From COVID-19

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Department of Health has reported 12 additional Utahn have died from COVID-19, and 716 more have tested positive.
Seven of those residents died before Feb. 1, authorities said.
The state has also administered nearly 12,000 more vaccines since yesterday’s report.
There are currently 239 people hospitalized with the virus.
Testing
UDOH reports a total of 2,172,963 Utahns have been tested for the virus so far, which is an increase of 6,458 people tested since yesterday.
Of those, a total of 367,789 residents have tested positive for COVID-19. That’s an increase of 716 new positive cases since Monday’s report.
The rolling 7-day average for positive tests is 799 per day.
The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 13.34%, and the rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 6.2%.
Hospitalizations
Currently, 239 people are hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 95 of those people are in intensive care units. Another 32 patients are hospitalized with suspected cases of COVID-19.
Utah’s ICUs are 68.5% full. The ICU beds in the state’s referral centers are 72.5% occupied.
Referral Centers are the 16 hospitals in Utah with the capability to provide the best care for patients with COVID-19. Because most patients are transferred to these facilities, their utilization is the best reflection of the true hospital capacity in Utah when looking at ICU beds.
Deaths
UDOH reported 12 additional Utahns have died as a direct result of COVID-19, and seven of those people died before Feb. 1. To date, 1,865 of the state’s residents have been killed by the virus.
The following individuals’ deaths were reported Tuesday:
- Female, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 65-84, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, between 65-84, Cache County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, older than 85, Sevier County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
- Female, between 65-84, Davis County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Weber County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, older than 85, Sevier County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 65-84, Washington County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 45-64, Davis County resident, hospitalized at time of death
Vaccinations
The state administered 11,966 more vaccines since Monday’s report, bringing the total number of shots in arms to 623,876.
A total of 410,598 Utahns have received the first dose, and 213,278 people have been fully immunized with both doses.
There have been 724,900 vaccines delivered to Utah.
