UDOH: 729 Have Tested Postive For COVID, 7 More Have Died

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The state reported seven more residents have died from COVID-19 and an additional 729 have tested positive.
Health care workers have administered 18,236 more vaccinations, bringing the total number of vaccinations to 759,533 so far.
Currently, 212 people are hospitalized with the virus.

Testing
The Utah Department of Health reports 2,222,755 residents have been tested so far, which is an increase of 8,249 people tested since yesterday.
Of those, a total of 372,708 Utahns have tested positive for COVID-19. That’s an increase of 729 positive cases since Tuesday’s report.
The rolling 7-day average for positive tests is 590 per day.
The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 10.2%. The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 4.8%.
Hospitalizations
There are currently 213 people hospitalized with the virus, and 92 of those people are in intensive care units. Another 24 patients are hospitalized with suspected cases of COVID-19.
Utah’s ICUs are 66.9% occupied. The ICU beds in the state’s referral centers are 70.5% full.
Referral Centers are the 16 hospitals in Utah with the capability to provide the best care for patients with COVID-19. Because most patients are transferred to these facilities, their utilization is the best reflection of the true hospital capacity in Utah when looking at ICU beds.
Deaths
Seven additional Utahns have died as a direct result of COVID-19. Health officials noted five of those people died before Feb. 10.
A previously-reported death from Monday was also retracted after further investigation.
To date, 1,955 of the state’s residents have been killed by the virus.
Vaccinations
Utah administered another 18,236 vaccines, bringing the total number of shots in arms to 741,297.
So far, 478,124 people have received the first dose, and 263,173 Utahns have been fully immunized with both doses.
A total of 879,340 vaccines have been delivered to the state.
