5 Utahns Have Died From COVID; 16,000 More Receive Dose Of Vaccine

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Department of Health reported 481 more Utahns have tested positive for COVID-19 and five more have lost their lives.
The state administered 16,373 additional vaccines since yesterday.
Currently, 171 people are hospitalized with the virus.

Testing
UDOH reports 2,298,572 people have been tested so far, which is an increase of 5,476 people tested since yesterday.
Of those, a total of 379,081 have tested positive for COVID-19. That’s an increase of 481 positive cases over Monday’s report.
The rolling 7-day average for positive tests is 492 per day.
The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 8.3%. The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 4.1%.
Hospitalizations
There are currently 171 people hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 55 of those people are in intensive care units. Another 13 patients are hospitalized with suspected cases of COVID-19.
Utah’s ICUs are 66.5% occupied. The ICU beds in the state’s referral centers are 68% full.
Referral Centers are the 16 hospitals in Utah with the capability to provide the best care for patients with COVID-19. Because most patients are transferred to these facilities, their utilization is the best reflection of the true hospital capacity in Utah when looking at ICU beds.
Deaths
Five more Utahns have lost their lives as a direct result of COVID-19.
To date, 2,032 of the state’s residents have been killed by the virus.
The following individuals’ deaths were reported Tuesday:
- Male, older than 85, Washington County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Female, between 65-84, Utah County resident, not hospitalized
- Female, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, older than 85, Summit County resident, not hospitalized
- Male, between 65-84, Washington County resident, long-term care facility resident
Vaccinations
Utah has administered 1,027,073 vaccines, which is an increase of 16,373 from Monday’s data.
A total of 679,409 Utahns have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 372,564 people have been fully immunized.
There have been 1,213,260 vaccines delivered to Utah.
