Utah Passes 1.5M Vaccine Doses Given As 300 Utahns Test Positive, 4 More Die From COVID-19

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Officials with the Utah Department of Health on Tuesday reported 300 additional Utahns have tested positive for COVID-19 and four more Utahns have died.
An additional 28,314 vaccines have been administered, bringing the state’s total to more than 1.5 million, and there were 130 people hospitalized with the virus.

Testing
UDOH reports 2,417,211 people have been tested — 4,018 more than Monday. Of those, 387,814 Utahns have tested positive for COVID-19, which is an increase of 300 new cases.
The rolling 7-day average for positive tests was 387 per day.
The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” remained steady at 7.1%, while the rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” remained at 3.4%.
Hospitalizations
Currently, 130 people are hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 48 of those people are in intensive care units.
Utah’s ICUs were 64.8% full and the ICU beds in Utah’s referral centers were 68.7% full Tuesday.
Deaths
Four more individuals have lost their lives because of COVID-19. To date, the virus has killed 2,137 of the state’s residents.
The following deaths were reported Tuesday:
- Male, between 65-84, Tooele County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 45-64, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 45-64, Weber County resident, hospitalized at time of death
Vaccinations
The state has administered 1,526,353 vaccines in total, which is an increase of 28,314 over Monday’s numbers.
So far, 994,402 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 579,627 Utahns have been fully immunized.
There have been 1,734,950 vaccines delivered to Utah.
