Brazen burglars hit three homes in one Logan neighborhood

LOGAN, Utah — There are a lot of people heading to Logan right now. The fall colors are something to see. While most people see beauty, though, someone this week also saw opportunity.

“Growing up, I never felt like I would ever get robbed,” Alexis Parkinson said. “That was just an uncomfortable feeling for sure.”

She and her husband, Ryan Parkinson, didn’t even know someone was in their home while they were away until they started noticing things missing.

“Just like a jewelry box is missing, coins, and an AR style .22 was missing and a few things like that,” he said.

That was on Monday.

The Parkinsons called Logan police and admitted they left their front door unlocked.

It was the opportunity someone was looking for to get in.

“Unfortunately, there are people out there who are willing to enter your house and steal your stuff,” said Logan Police Capt. Curtis Hooley.

Police say the same type of theft then happened on Tuesday, then again on Wednesday, all within just a few blocks of each other in Logan’s Island neighborhood.

Hooley thinks there’s a good chance the cases are connected, and whoever did it stole guns, coins, electronics, and other items.

“Two of the homes were unlocked, and the other one, it appears, through an air conditioning unit that was in a window,” Hooley said. “They removed that and came through there is what it appears at this point.”

The Parkinsons hope at least one of the items stolen from their home can be returned.

“It was a bracelet from my father. He passed away and it can’t be replaced,” Alexis said.

She feels Logan is still a safe place and still just as beautiful as ever, but like with almost anywhere these days, you have to be cautious.

“We’ll lock our doors all the time now,” she said. “We worked hard for our stuff, and we don’t want people coming in and taking our things and taking things that mean a lot to us.”
