Snow squall warning issued for Tooele County; northern Utah warning canceled

SALT LAKE CITY — Parts of Interstate 80 are under snow squall warnings Wednesday morning as winter weather continues to hit Utah.
The National Weather Service issued the warnings for I-80 between the Grantsville area and Magna and state Route 36 through Tooele.
“Intense bursts of heavy snow and gusty winds leading to blowing snow and rapidly falling visibility. Wind gusts greater than 50 mph could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects,” read the NWS warning.
Whiteout conditions are possible along roads, leading to potentially life-threatening driving conditions.

An additional warning was temporarily issued for I-15 and U.S. Highway 89 but the National Weather Service canceled it as temperatures stayed warm enough to prevent rain from converting to snow.
