COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police in Colorado Springs have released the names of all five people killed in that deadly and horrific nightclub shooting that happened just before midnight on Saturday.

The victims are Kelly Loving, Daniel Aston, Derrick Rump, Ashley Paugh, and Raymond Green Vance.

“It’s just really hard for me and really rough for me,” said Katie Ivey, who was good friends with Aston and Rump. “My heart just hurts right now. They are awesome guys. Very lovable. They are just a blessing to be around.”

Kelsy Roth was also a friend of Rump’s.

“I want him to be remembered as a happy and loving person,” she said. “This is one of the safe places for the LGBTQ community in Colorado Springs. It’s kind of upsetting that’s going to be taken away from us.”

It was 11:57 p.m. on Saturday when police say 22-year-old Anderson Aldrich entered Club Q and started firing. Investigators say thanks to two men inside the club who managed to jump the shooter and stop him, many lives were saved.

Aston’s mother, who spoke to NBC News, said she still can’t believe what happened.

“I keep thinking it’s just, it’s a mistake. They’ve made a mistake and that he’s really alive. I just, you know, he lit up a room,” Sabrina Aston said.

Aaron Ward is Rump’s neighbor.

“Hate will never win. It’s always going to be love, and he was a really good guy. He was full of love,” Ward said of Rump.

According to police, 17 people were injured with gunshot wounds and two others were injured in other ways.

KSL TV’s Dan Rascon spoke to one mother who’s daughter was shot in the leg and her partner was shot three times. The daughter’s partner is still in the hospital.

“I can’t comprehend somebody’s thoughts that would do something like that,” the woman, who did not want to give her name, said with emotion. “It’s horrible, it’s horrible. There is no reason for it. There is no reason. People are people.”
