SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – At least 42,000 students at Salt Lake Community College could possibly have their personal information compromised.
The college on Friday sent an email to thousands of students whose tuition information for their income taxes was lost.
According to SLCC, the hard drive containing the information went missing when it was shipped from an Arizona company that handles the documents.
UPS reportedly delivered the envelope, but there was nothing inside.
Officials with the college said they are now reevaluating how sensitive information is exchanged, and they’re looking at encrypted file transfers instead of physically shipping a memory drive.
