Police: Suspect At Large After Early-morning Stabbing

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – A suspect in an early-morning stabbing is still at large, police say.
The incident happened just before 1 a.m. near 2800 South and Redwood Road.
According to West Valley City Police Lt. Shane Matheson, a man was loading a truck in a vacant lot when he threw a bucket into some bushes. The bucket struck a transient man and an altercation ensued.
Police say the man loading the truck was stabbed in the back and the face and as transported to the hospital where he underwent surgery. Officials said he’s expected to survive.
The transient man fled on foot, authorities said. He left behind some items police will use to attempt to identify him, although most of it is garbage and drug paraphernalia.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male with shoulder-length hair, thin beard, round face and wearing red clothing.
