Man Arrested In Connection To Weekend Murder Case In Utah County

SPRINGVILLE, Utah – Police made an arrest in connection to a weekend murder in Utah County, authorities said.
Victor Hugo Nathanson Contreras, 25, of Payson, was booked on suspicion of murder and obstruction of justice, according to arresting documents.
Police said Lazaro Nieves, 29, was shot and killed Sunday at approximately 2 a.m. in the area of 1600 South and U.S. 89.
According to jail documents, Contreras told police he had been smoking cocaine and methamphetamines. He reportedly said he was “so high he couldn’t remember anything.”
He told police it was possible he shot Nieves, the report states.
