Amber Alert Canceled After 3-Month-Old Found Safe; Parents In Custody

SOUTH SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – An Amber Alert has been canceled after a 3-month-old who police said was abducted in South Salt Lake City by her biological mother and father was found.
Authorities said the child was taken at approximately 8 p.m. Sept. 25.
Police said the infant’s parents were homeless and witnesses told police the parents appeared to be under the influence of drugs when they entered a basement apartment through a window and took infant after an argument with the child’s grandfather.
Police said the baby is under the guardianship of the grandparents and only the grandfather was home when the child was abducted.
The first suspect was identified as 19-year-old Gabriel Brandon Caro. The second suspect was identified as 21-year-old Jasmine Angelica Alvarez.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle in Lander, Wyoming, at approximately 1:45 a.m., according to South Salt Lake Executive Officer Gary Keller. The missing child was located and Alvarez was arrested.
Another adult, Naomi Yellowbear, was in the vehicle with Alvarez when troopers pulled it over, according to WHP. She was also taken into custody.
Police said they believe she was heading to the Wind River Reservation.
Caro was located in downtown Salt Lake City and arrested.
Both Caro and Alvarez are facing kidnapping charges.
