SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The College Board has released an adjusted AP testing schedule for the 2019-20 academic year.
Changes to test times and materials were made due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has affected schools nationwide.
“The exams will only include topics and skills most AP teachers and students have already covered in class by early March,” board officials said. “We know that some students have lost more class time than others, and we want to be fair to all students.”
AP tests will begin on Monday, May 11, and run through Friday, May 22. Exams will be offered at 10 a.m., noon or 2 p.m. MDT.
This year’s tests will be open book and open note, officials said. Most exams will have one or two free-response questions.
Each student needs to access the system 30 minutes early to get set up and can take exams on a computer, smartphone, tablet or submit photos of handwritten responses via cell phone.
Most tests will be around 45 minutes with a five-minute period after to upload responses.
Details on what each exam will focus on and the full testing schedule can be found here.
“As usual, students’ work will be scored by our network of college faculty and AP readers, and will be reported on a 1–5 scale,” officials said. “We anticipate releasing scores as close to the usual July timeframe as possible.”
Make-up exams will be offered at the beginning of June.
