Utah Reports Highest Three-Day Tally Of Positive Coronavirus Cases

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Department of Health has reported over 260 new cases of coronavirus for the third straight day. One person under the age of 65 has died of COVID-19.
In their latest daily update, officials said there were 264 new cases of coronavirus, with the state now at 9,797 positive cases since the pandemic began.
They reported 269 new cases on Saturday, and 343 cases on Friday. That makes 876 positive cases over a three-day stretch.
Officials identified the latest Utahn to die from the disease as a Wasatch County man under the age of 65. He was the second death reported in the county, and 113th in the state.
Of the new cases reported Sunday, 124 were in Salt Lake County, 59 in Utah County, and 28 in the Bear River Health District.
An increase of 3,809 people have been tested, bringing the total number to 213,914.
Officials also reported an additional 12 people hospitalized, with 98 total active patients.
“There have been 775 hospitalized cases as of (Sunday),” they said.
Over 6,100 people were considered “recovered” from coronavirus.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said there have been 103,700 deaths in the United States, with 1,761,503 positive cases.
There have been 367,255 deaths worldwide, according to the World Health Organization, and 5.9 million positive cases.

How Do I Prevent It?
The CDC has some simple recommendations, most of which are the same for preventing other respiratory illnesses or the flu:
- Avoid close contact with people who may be sick
- Avoid touching your face
- Stay home when you are sick
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then throw the tissue in the trash
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. Always wash your hands with soap and water if your hands are visibly dirty.
- If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
