Multiple New Fires Start In 2 Days Across Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The state saw at least eight new fire starts Monday and Tuesday, according to Utah Fire Info.
Three of those fires are currently burning near each other in Washington County, where a red flag warning is in place. The rest are spread out across the state.
Turkey Farm Road Fire
In Washington County, the Turkey Farm Road Fire started Monday and has burned an estimated 11,700 acres and is zero percent contained. Currently there are no evacuations, but one outbuilding has been destroyed.
The fire is burning north of St. George, or about three miles west of Washington City.
The blaze was caused by fireworks, authorities said. The incident is under investigation and officials have released descriptions for three teenage males believed to be responsible for starting the fire.

On Tuesday, the fire was transitioned to a Type 3 incident management team.
Authorities have requested the public avoid roads and trails in the area, including Turkey Track Road, Danish Ranch Road, BLM Road 901, Winchester Trail Road, Icehouse Trail, Yellow Knolls Trail, Black Gulch Trail, Middleton Trail and Mesa Rim Trail.

A few homes were evacuated Tuesday, but fire officials said they expected those evacuations to be lifted later in the day.
Big Summit Fire
The Big Summit Fire started in Nevada on Monday and moved into the western portion of Iron County, forcing the evacuation of the Hamlin Valley. It has burned 4,000 acres so far. The cause of the fire is unknown.

Mountain Home Fire
The Mountain Home Fire was reported Tuesday and is currently burning in Weber County near the Coldwater Trailhead. It’s burned approximately 78 acres, and was 50 percent contained Tuesday night.
The cause is unknown.
Crews are attacking the Mountain Home Fire with two helicopters and a single-engine air tanker, along with state, local and federal resources.

Cottonwood Springs Fire
The Cottonwood Springs Fire is burning north of St. George at the base of Pine Valley Mountain. Officials currently don’t have an estimated size on the fire yet.
No buildings are being threatened; however, officials are concerned about power lines in the area.
Veyo West Fire
The Veyo West Fire is burning approximately 20 miles north of St. George. The cause is under investigation. It has burned approximately 1,100 acres so far and is zero percent contained.
Evacuations were initially ordered for the towns of Brookside and Veyo, though most evacuations were lifted by Tuesday.

Goshen Canyon Fire
Authorities said the Goshen Canyon Fire was started Monday by a cigarette. It has burned 215 acres in Utah County and is 100 percent contained. Evacuations were ordered Monday but have since been lifted.

Abbot Fire
Burning in Duchsene County since Monday, the Abbott Fire has burned 52 acres and is zero percent contained. The cause is unknown.
Split Fire
The Split Fire is burning in Uintah County. According to the state’s Incident Information System, the fire has burned 18 acres.
Allen Fire
The Allen Fire is currently burning in Daggett County, northeast of Vernal and near the Utah-Colorado state line. One structure is threatened, and it was caused by lightning. It has burned 40 acres.
