Big Hollow Fire Estimated At 300 Acres; Precautionary Evacuations Issued

DANIEL, Utah – Fire officials said the Big Hollow Fire has burned an estimated 300 acres about a mile south of the Heber Valley Airport.
Officials said no structures are threatened by the human-caused fire, and precautionary evacuations have been issued for Little Sweden Road.
“It’s on a hill slope here. Oak brush, sagebrush, grasses,” said Mike Eriksson, Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands area manager. “We’ve had dry weather here the past few weeks and it just went off here.”
State fire officials said multiple resources are responding to the blaze.

Witnesses said the fire was burning near the Big Hollow gun range.
It remains unclear exactly how this fire started, but firefighters said this is the third year in a row where there has been a fire in the area.
Utah Department of Transportation officials said the fire is affecting both directions of 3000 South at U.S. Highway 189.
