HUNTSVILLE, Utah – Authorities are searching for a Huntsville man who’s accused of killing his wife.

According to the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, deputies are looking for Scott William Russell, 53, who is driving a Black 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser with black rims and Utah license plate G143AP.

On Tuesday, deputies responded to a disturbance in the upper valley west of unincorporated Weber County, according to WCSO.

Authorities discovered Russell’s wife deceased in the home’s master bathroom.

The victim had been shot multiple times, according to charging documents.

“During the crime scene investigation the victim was found to have five separate gunshot wounds in the back of her body; including one at the base of her skull,” according to the documents. “Eight 9 mm casings were located around the victim’s body with bullet holes also being located in the wall of the bathroom.”

Officials had been alerted to the incident by a 911 caller who received the information from Russell’s son.

His son, who lives out of state, contacted the 911 caller and said his father had been “acting very erratic” on a phone call.

According to court documents, the suspect’s son said his father told him his “soul was on the line,” among other things that his son said were strange and out of character.

Russell’s son also reported hearing what sounded like ammunition and a gun cocking, charging documents state. Further commotion could be heard before a noise described as a door slamming followed by silence.

Russell allegedly returned to the phone and told his son he had shot the victim.

An arrest warrant was later issued for Russell, who was charged with one count of murder, a first-degree felony; four counts of felony discharge of a firearm with injury, all second-degree felonies; one count of use of a firearm by a restricted person, a third-degree felony; possession or use of a controlled substance, a Class B misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class B misdemeanor.

The victim’s identity has not been released.

“At this time, there is reason to believe that Scott William Russell is heading to Colorado from Utah,” according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

Anyone who sees Russell or his vehicle is asked to contact the Weber County Sheriff’s Office at 801-778-6631 or their local law enforcement agency. He is presumed armed and dangerous.
