LEHI, Utah – The Utah Highway Patrol is asking drivers to slow down during winter weather after troopers responded to 135 crashes on state roads overnight.
UHP noted many of the crashes happened near Point of the Mountain, where high winds created ice on the freeway.
The conditions forced the closure of I-15 in the area for approximately an hour.
Authorities said one of the incidents included a 10-car pileup.
“Fortunately, only a handful resulted in minor injuries,” according to a tweet from UHP.
“As a reminder we plead with you to slow down when the weather changes,” according to another Utah Highway Patrol tweet. “Give yourself extra room all around your vehicle. Plan ahead with blankets and water in your car. Make sure your tires are in good shape. And if we haven’t mentioned it yet SLOW DOWN!”
