GRANTSVILLE, Utah – A man and woman were found dead from gunshot wounds in Tooele County in what authorities said was a murder-suicide.
Dispatch said a woman called around 11:32 p.m. Saturday stating her husband had been shot. The caller then disconnected, according to officials.
That’s when deputies responded to 2481 Cedarline Loop.
When deputies arrived at the home, they found two adults – a man and woman – that were dead.
“Early indications are that the woman shot her husband before taking her own life,” the Tooele County Sheriff said Sunday.
On Monday, officers identified the husband as 72-year-old Donald Day and the wife as 68-year-old Joyce Day.
Sheriff Paul Wimmer with the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office said no motive has been found yet, adding that the couple had no history of domestic violence. He said they were also waiting for the toxicology report.
“Family disclosed they had a contentious relationship,” read a Facebook post from the Tooele County Sheriff.
Wimmer stated there has been no conflicting evidence or suggestion from the state medical examiner that this was anything other than a murder-suicide.
